Blacklock, nestled in the vibrant heart of Soho, is a modern London chophouse with a story as rich as its menu. Our home, tucked away in a quiet backstreet, was once a basement brothel — now transformed into a warm and atmospheric underground hideaway. Inspired by the great dining houses of 17th-century London, our mission has always been simple: to serve the very best meat in the country at a fair price. The name Blacklock comes from the old iron castings used in foundries — a nod to the craftsmanship and tradition that underpin everything we do, while pioneering a new, accessible way to enjoy top-quality dining in the heart of the city.
At our core lies a deep respect for produce and provenance. We work closely with whole-animal, regenerative farms and source our chops from the esteemed Philip Warren in Cornwall. Our meat is cooked over English oak charcoal on our bespoke grill, achieving an unmatched tenderness. While individual chops are always a favourite, we’re best known for our “All In” — a generous sharing feast where all our skinny chops are laid atop charred flatbread, served with a selection of sides from our signature beef-dripping chips to seasonal vegetables.
The Blacklock experience goes far beyond the plate. Down in our Soho basement, the buzz never stops — exposed brick walls, reclaimed furniture, and candlelight create an intimate yet lively atmosphere, a relaxed escape from the streets above. Our service is open, warm, and genuine, ensuring every guest feels truly welcome. We believe exceptional food and drink shouldn’t be exclusive, which is why we proudly serve cocktails for five pounds and pour carefully selected wines straight from the cask into your glass.
Blacklock Soho is more than just a restaurant; it’s a cherished part of the local fabric — a go-to spot for those seeking extraordinary flavour in an unpretentious setting. Whether you’re after a quick pre-theatre bite or a long, leisurely dinner with friends, we bring a reimagined taste of London’s chophouse heritage to life — memorable, modern, and unmistakably Soho.
Smart casual; the atmosphere is relaxed and informal.
